Resilience: Lead balloon or rubber ball - How high can I bounce?

Domain: Lead Self
Capability: Demonstrates character

Facilitated by:

Bruce McLeod

Is there anybody in any healthcare system in the world that is not facing the challenge to be resilient right now? Clearly the answer is NO! Covid19 is testing and pushing our resilience to its max.

One definition of resilience is “the ability to recover from or adjust to misfortune or change”. In our current environment this is important not just for our ability to show up as our best selves, but it is equally important in our caring and engaging of others around us who are also facing the same challenge.

Resilience is different than many other personal leadership attributes as it requires us to continually refuel our tank with that which enables resilience for us. We often say “the cost of taking time for me right now is too big. Others are counting on me” – this is unfortunately the mantra of too many of us in healthcare! We are however asking the wrong question. Rather than considering the cost of taking the time, we should be asking ourselves what is the cost of NOT taking the time – not just on us and our teams, but ultimately on the communities we serve?

Join Dr. Jaason Geerts and our special guest, Bruce McLeod, for this Advanced Leadership Program (ALP) module related to the Lead Self capability within the LEADS in a Caring Environment framework.
