COVID-19 respects no organizational boundaries, no sector boundaries, and no professional boundaries. Similarly, solutions that will protect the health of citizens, families, individuals and those infected with COVID-19 require a multiplicity of cross-border collaborations, such as Bill Gates argues for on an international scale; but also between provinces in Canada; as well as cross-organizational coalitions within the healthcare system itself.

Join Dr. Jaason Geerts and our special guest, Graham Dickson, for this Advanced Leadership Program (ALP) module related to the Develop Coalitions domain: specifically, the capability of Demonstrate a commitment to customers and service, within the LEADS in a Caring Environment framework.

Dr. Dickson is the recipient of the 2020 Distinguished Leadership Award from the Canadian College of Health Leaders (CCHL).  Graham is the principal in LEADS Global, a not-for-profit enterprise that works closely with the CCHL, CHLNet, and the Canadian Society of Physician Leaders (CSPL) to enable countries outside of Canada to use LEADS for leadership development. In the spring of 2020, he published—as a co-author with Bill Tholl (OC)—a second edition of the LEADS book: Bringing Leadership to Life in Health: LEADS in a Caring Environment—Putting LEADS to Work. The second edition of the LEADS book uses current research to explain the framework and has over 36 stories about how it has been put to work in a multiplicity of jurisdictions.

Join Dr. Dickson as he facilitates a conversation around the fundamental importance of building coalitions from the outside-in: translating customer (patient, family, citizen) needs into multi-organizational arrangements that can, by marshalling their collective resources, serve those customers in a much better fashion than any one single organization can.
